If you are wondering what a dental bridge is or the process of getting one, look no further.
A bridge is a prosthetic device that is attached to your gumline and replaces one or more missing teeth. There are two categories of bridges: fixed and removable. Fixed bridges are cemented to your teeth. Removable bridges are like dentures; you can take them out after meals and while you sleep.
Depending on your situation, the process of getting a dental bridge may vary, but here is the general process:
On your first appointment, Dr. Scott Josephson will remove the enamel structure of the teeth that are adjacent to the gap in your mouth. This will prepare the teeth for a crown. Impressions of your teeth will be taken and the dental bridge will be created in a dental laboratory. Your dentist will give you a temporary bridge to wear while a more durable, custom-made bridge is made.
At the second appointment, the permanent bridge will be placed and checked for a proper fit. Depending on your needs it may take more than one visit.
